We have a fabulous selection of pubs in Salisbury city centre, along with some beautiful bars and inns, with many serving meals throughout the day and evening. If you’re looking for somewhere nice for a drink and something to eat then you have plenty of choice.
Starting with the city centre, there are 2 pubs which look onto the market square and have outside drinking and dining areas for when the better weather arrives.
The Market Inn is located at 16 Butcher Row whilst the The Ox Row Inn is located at 10-11. You’ll also find Maul’s Wine & Cheese Bar close by in Fish Row.
If historical pubs are your interest then a visit to the Haunch Of Venison in Minster Street is a must.
It is believed to be one of the oldest in the area and dates back over 700 years. It is also home to a mummified hand of a man whose spirit is said to haunt the pub.
If you head along the High Street towards Salisbury Cathedral, you’ll come to a junction. To your left, you’ll find New Street which is home to The New Inn and The Wig and Quill, both of which are wonderful old pubs that are worth a visit.
If you turn right at the junction, into Crane Street, you’ll find the Old Ale And Coffee House which always seems popular. I believe it’s also dog friendly as well although many of the pubs in Salisbury are..
Other Pubs In Salisbury City Centre, South Wilts
If you’re looking for a ‘Spoons’ they you’ll find JD Wetherspoon in Bridge Street.
Ever since I took early retirement, I meet friends for coffee in ‘Spoons’ every week and it’s always busy. I’ve not tried one of their breakfasts yet but it is tempting 🙂
The Bishops Mill can be seen, on the opposite side of the road, across the bridge towards The Maltings.
Just along the road in Fisherton Street you’ll find The Bridge Tap and, a little further along, is Deacons.
Off of Blue Boar Row, you’ll find Endless Street, head up there and you’ll come to The Salisbury Arms. A little further and you’ll come to Bedwin Street and The Royal George.
You’ll also find the The Pheasant Inn in Salt lane
If you head towards the library from the centre of Salisbury ( the market Square) then you’ll find yourself in Castle Street. Head past Tesco (on the left) and you’ll see Qudos at the junction with Scotts lane. A little further along Castle Street and you’ll come to The Avon Brewery as well as the George and Dragon.
The Bell And Crown is a lovely 14th century pub and can be found in Catherine Street.
Close by, in Brown Street is the Rai d’Or pub which serves Thai cuisine.
